In recent months I have been carrying out workshops with groups of young people in schools on behalf of Connexions in Liverpool. These have been centred round Image – what it means, the importance of, and how to create an image that encourages others to want to get to know you better. People like to associate with people like themselves. If you don’t look enough like them in terms of dress, manner or position you will be perceived as an outsider. They may never feel comfortable enough to find out more about you or do business with you. By understanding how to project a positive and appropriate image the students have greater self-confidence and self-esteem. I find these sessions very rewarding and look forward to working alongside Connexions and other similar organisations in the near future.
